Kronenbourg 1664

YOU don’t hear much about beers from France because you usually associate that country with wines.

However since 1664, Kronenbourg has been delivering a fine lighter style of beer which isn’t light in alcohol content nor appeal.

It has a clean golden appearance with a good tight white head.

There’s a distinct hop smell to the aroma but that is mixed with some subtle citrus scents as well.

Kronenbourg isn’t a robust beer in flavour but it is smooth, a little creamy across the plate and leaves the mouth crisp and clean.

There isn’t a dominant bitterness in the aftertaste nor does it sit heavily in the gut.

It is a very easy beer to drink and lovers of blonde beers will find this little French number appealing.

Those looking for plenty of body in their beers might be disappointed but I think this would be a great beer to enjoy in the warmer months. And will find favour with those looking for something refreshing.

As far as lagers go, this is a pretty socialable beer and you could certainly put a few away without feeling bloated.

It is a full strength beer at five percent so don’t let it fool you.

I would suggest that is a good beer to go with seafood, light chicken dishes or salads.

With its distinctive bottle, this French beer offers style and class with a bit of refinement.

MY TIP

This is best served nice and cold either straight out of the crown top bottle or in a tall glass. It’s certainly a conversation starter but it is also classed as a premium beer so expect to pay around $19 per 330ml six pack.
