Book: Beer Lovers Guide To Australia

WHEN it comes to reading about beer, the only think I usually like to read is on the label such as where it’s from and what alcohol percentage it is.

However when the Beer Lovers Guide To Australia came across my desk, I must confess I found it a very hard book to put down.

Most beer drinkers like to think they know plenty about their favourite drop and for those who are happy with their regular brews in life, there’s probably no need to venture further into the world of the amber, brown or black fluid.

Book: Beer Lovers Guide To AustraliaHowever just like the rapidly expanding beer market, more and more drinkers both men and women are wanting to expand their knowledge on the subject and this book is definitely right on the mark.

With contributions by eight of Australia’s leading beer aficionados, this guide covers everything you want and perhaps need to know about beer.

From describing what beer is, the different types and styles of beer, matching food and beers and even what to look for when tasting beers, it’s all in here.

There’s a section on the history of beer in Australia, the craft market revolution to the history of beer in Australia and a guide to tasting beer and what to look.

Of course there is the all important sections on describing what’s out there to sample with photographs of the hundreds of different varieties, there’s list of the different brewers and even specialist drinking spots around the country.

Most importantly, this guide is written in such a way that you CAN understand what is being said.

Some guides can become far too technical and simply bore you.

This is both entertaining and informative and a joy to read.

I found myself getting thirsty simply going through the book.

It also makes you realize “there are so many beers, so little time!”

MY TIP

If you only have one book behind your bar, make sure it is The Beer Lovers Guide To Australian Beer by Scribal Publishing. At around $35 it is a good investment though I don’t think I should be pushing it too hard, it could put me out of business!
