Port Hotel Hopetoun
Food was good value. Large serves and tasty, with the two soups being a special treat. Menu was not very wide but enough choice to satisfy most tastes.
Malcolm, the owner cum waiter, was extremely helpful and a real character in his own right.
The room for the night was a delight with 5 metre ceilings and tonnes of space. No ensuite but the ablutions were close and very well maintained. Thats what you expect from a genuine 1907 hotel.

We visited not long ago, the food was passable, runny sauces and meat not cooked to "our liking" as described in the menu. We've had better! It was busy but the waiting staff were polite, proffessional and smiley.
The older woman behind the bar (believe to be a manager) was uninterested in us as customers and was openly rude to others. Not a happy person.
Overall a nice place, clean and tidy, poor service at the bar, although the relatively young workers were smiley & polite.
