Good country hospitality

Been there a few times with work. Great little pub for less than half what u pay in surrounding towns. Central to all the oil and gas work so didn't have to drive half the morning to get to work. 3 huge meals a day and good clean rooms. Noticed they also offer free shows to truckies. Good on them.

Had many a night playing pool and laughing and joking with the staff and locals.

Anyone wanting somewhere that don't cost the earth but is still great food and hospitality I reckon the fed is the place to go.

Thanks swanny, Sam and staff for a great time.

Thumbs up for me

I had a business function that I had to attend but was unable to book any accommodation in Roma as it was all booked out, after checking my choices all I could get was a room at the Federal Hotel in Wallumbilla, not expecting much before turning up I was pleasantly surprised on arrival, yes it is an older hotel but the accommodation was clean, neat and tidy. The service provided by the staff was very polite, friendly and helpful. Upon checking in there was an issue with my intended room which was quickly sorted by the lovely staff and owner who couldn't apologise enough, I was also informed of meal times and what meals where available during my stay and anything I needed to know in regards to my room. While ordering my dinner I noticed there was a fantastic choice of fresh cooked vegetables and freshly made salads which I could choose from and the meal brought out to me was very well presented and tasted fantastic. Cooked Breakfast in the dining room before leaving for Roma was delicious and I had a chance to talk with the fantastic staff and owner who was cooking the breakfast that morning. I had a fantastic time during my stay even staying an extra day to enjoy another breakfast and lunch before leaving. I will definately be booking to stay at the Federal Hotel from now on and enjoying the peaceful, friendly atmosphere in Wallumbilla rather than in Roma.

Fantastic in all ways, a very laid back friendly atmosphere that I have not encountered in a very long time.

I have stayed at this hotel many many times over the last few years and each and every stay has been enjoyable.
Service from both bar staff and dining staff is fantastic, any worries or problems are quickly sorted. Any time I have stayed here the accommodation rooms have been clean and tidy with clean fresh sheets and towels and soaps on the end of the bed. As with any restaurant the food depends on the chef/cook at the time and I am loving the new fresh vegies (not store bought frozen stuff heated up) and freshly done fish, meat etc. The dining area is fantastic to sit down and have your meal in a clean well presented area or in warmer weather outside tables are available or to enjoy the many faces and personalities of the owners, staff and towns people you can sit up to the bar with your meal.
As with most small towns you have to remember that the hotels are generally the only one in town so some nights can be busier and louder than normal and the owners and staff are quick, efficient and very good at removing troublesome and problem causing patrons and sometimes their very loud and obnoxious partners to make the night enjoyable and safe for all.
I would suggest, and have to many a friend and colleague, to stay at the Federal Hotel, not only is it relatively cheap but a clean and tidy, friendly pub, with a very laid back atmosphere that is pretty much non existent in any other place I have stayed yet.

great accom and prices for workers

The company I work for has booked staff into the federal hotel now for 4 years. They are always willing to help and find rooms etc at a moments notice with really late and early check ins. Prices are reasonable with rooms from basic backpacker to ensuited single mens rooms. Meals are always huge and our staff haven't had any complaints. I would recommend the federal instead of anywhere in roma where you would pay double. Their Staff are always willing to go out of there way. They have even packed special lunches ans dinners for our staff with different dietery conditions. Great place for workers to stay

Got stranded in wallumbilla with car trouble. Swanny came out and helped fix car. They gave me a room upstairs at no charge. Didn't charge to help fix the car for a day and used all his tools and shed. Had smorgusboard for dinner and was the best feed I had in ages. Great country pub with great people that would help anyone. And reckon $4 for a schooner was bloody good. Next time I going through I will be calling in for a beer

I am the owner of the establishment. I dont like airing dirty laundry in public. But all I will say is disgruntled ex employees will say anything when they are dismissed for work related issues. Thanking you samantha

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGE...

1
10 years 8 months ago

So, we stayed at the hotel on a friday & Saturday night, yes we expected partying and such as its the only pub in town but what we didn't expect was to be abused by the owners husband (Mark) and have the incredibly drunk owner (Sam) ask us to leave the bar whilst spilling red wine on my shoes...
Had dinner there and let me tell you, unless you enjoy cocroches (that live in the salad bar) and dry veg from a Bain Marie... eat in roma.
The rooms where smaller than prison cells and the water from the showers smelled like rotten eggs.. I didn't shower and my husband smelled worse after the shower then before..
They did have a lovely special on and the english chef came out and spoke to us for a short moment as we where ordering, I believe the young lady on the counter was his wife or girlfriend, she was very helpful and polite but her uniform was Ill-fitted and didn't look nice..
The girl on the bar with blond short hair was rude as anything.. when we where checking in, first our room hadn't been cleaned, so we had to wait 3 hours until that got done... then she didn't apologize and threw the keys at us with no explanation as to where the room was or food or anything, she had a sour look on her face the whole time. I really think she hates her job, but with a boss like hers I'd hate it to...

I would recommend driving the extra 25min and staying in Roma rather than this hole of a place..
