About Rhynie Hotel:

We are a small family run pub in the small town of Rhynie, South Australia, halfway between Tarlee and Auburn, along the Main North Road.

The Rhynie Hotel was the first pub north of Adelaide that was deemed 'bona fide' - hence it could serve liquor and food after 6:00pm only if drinkers could present themselves as 'bona fide' travellers. Local legend has it, a winemaker once ordered a gin and tonic only to be brusquely informed, "We don't serve cocktails here."

Times have now changed though. We do serve Gin and Tonic's and everyone is whole-heartedly welcome whether they be bona fide travellers or not.

The pub provides a welcome rest break on the Main North Road where you can stop off for a nice cold beer and a succulent pub lunch.
