A wonderful place now . The food prices have gone up though since it opened and are pushing the boundaries. Regardless, it's good honest food at a OK price.

Nic (Owner), Dan (manager) and Ryan and Allan at the bottle shop are all great. They exemplify what a "local" is and that's why the locals are returning.

Was invited to the 2nd Birthday of the new "SBH" and was glad to be attend.

All the best to the new South Beach Hotel.

I am a recent "regular" at the South Beach Hotel. My wife and I eat there with our daughters every couple of weeks, usually on Tuesdays when they have the Steak Night, and I have been impressed with both the food and service.

This pub is now a great place to eat and drink. The new owner has done wonders for this time warped bar and is now as sexy as the owner and his minnie me. MOST of the staff there are very friendly and I love going in just to chat to them. One of the female british backpackers as you put it, makes our night everytime we go in there. The place is getting a great rep and i feel proud to have the sbh as my local. The manager has always been there on the occasions we have and is a very charming young man, unfortunatly i have not met the owner as often. However The owner and the manager have worked magic and will be an unstoppable team so you sour folks will have to get with the times.

I agree, such a shame. Things aren't what they used to be - an Aussie Pub no longer. What is wrong with hiring local bar staff surely there's no shortage of local young people for this type of work. Too many publicans dont care about the customers when it comes to hiring friendly, courteous staff. Pity this hotel has chosen this path.

The Davilak used to be the true blue Aussie Hotel... not any more it is now run by cheeky British backpackers who insult the customers and are backed by the owner who has changed the name to South Beach Hotel

whats your problem with changing the name of a venue that was renowned for providing the great unwashed of the area with a place to get pissed whilst scaring off the general public? I used to stay away from the place at all costs, but now it has a friendly atmosphere as people actually come there now for a casual drink and a good meal. Sounds like your exaclly the type of people the new owner will be happy to see the back off. Have fun drinking elsewhere

You obviously are not a 'true' South Freo person. The Dav was my local for years and I never had any problems whilst patronising the pub. It was raw, yes, but it was the dinky-die aussie spirit that lived in that place.
