James Boags Pure

James Boags Pure

When it all comes down to it, beer is really a very simple thing to make.

There are essentially four basic ingredients – water, barley, hops and yeast and it is what you do with those things which really determine the kind of beer you have.

Following this simple approach, James Boags has released Pure, a Tasmanian lager made in the finest traditions without any preservatives or additives.

The end result is a crisp, refreshing lager with a slightly bitter aftertaste which isn’t overpowering.

Light golden in colour and very clean in the glass, Pure has a good head with a subtle hop aroma.

While delivering a good flavour across the plate, Pure doesn’t sit heavily in the gut and its refreshing nature makes this an ideal summer lager.

Its thirst quenching qualities are very good as is its sessionability (speaking from experience).

However it is full strength beer at 4.5 percent so just be aware of that though trying to read the label even when you are sober is a tough enough ask!

This is a great beer for summer dishes such as seafood, salads, lighter Mediterranean-style foods, especially Greek or just to enjoy as a ‘cleanser’.

In fact I think this is very versatile drop and a very social beer to enjoy.

Thos who like the lighter styles of beer should find this appealing though is does have more flavour than some of the Mex beers on the market.

Being a ‘pure’ drop should also mean minimal after affects (but that will depend on how much you drink).

James Boags has come up with another beer gem of ‘pure’ enjoyment.

MY TIP

Nice and cold after a day in the hot sun either working or playing. You could knock a few of these over with ease and even female beer drinks who don’t like big bold beers will find this to their liking. It’s an ‘anytime’ beer with no harmful additives or the like and at around $18 per six pack of 330ml stubbies, it is definitely worth seeking out!
