If you are one of those who likes to impress friends by drinking something they’re not, get yourself some Peroni Leggera.
Get some what? – I hear you ask.
It’s an Italian beer from the famous Peroni brewery and it’s a low carb naturally brewed mid strength drop, ideal for summer.
I have tried the blue label Peroni and liked it with its distinctive barley flavour and aftertaste and I’m pleased to say this mid strength retains the same characteristics.
At 3.5 percent, it’s a very easy drop to drain but doesn’t lose any of the flavour characteristics which some mid strengths do.
It’s a very social beer with great sessionability and with a flashy sliver label, it looks impressive as well.
It’s a cleansing brew so it lends itself well to lighter Mediterranean dishes, some of your lighter Asian food and seafood but I put it to the test at an Aussie Barbie and it stood up well.
I found it particularly good for an ‘after red’ drop.
It’s not a robust flavoured beer but it does have a barley/malt aftertaste which is quite Moorish and being low carb, you don’t have to feel guilty drinking it.
And with it being priced competitively, why not go Italian?
MY TIP
Nice and cold is a pre-requisite for this brew. It’s a good party beer and a little bit different so you won’t have to worry about who is swiping your beers at a social gathering. At around $14 a 330ml six pack, it’s also affordable and worth trying – salute!
