As an Irish person who used to frequent O'Dowds Irish pub, I am appaulled at the below comment 'Rip off'! Clearly this is a person who has issues with O'Dowds or doesn't understand hospitality, hidden tariffs are in every business,.. Veggies cost extra only in specials as far as I'm concerned - same as every food outlet! Clearly this person is a tight arse and is feelin 'the money pinch' themselves! Also these remote deposits and such are DEPOSITS, u get them back! So u are not losing the money!
From my experience O'Dowds Irish pub was a very pleasurable experience experience, I did not stay there however I drank there on many occasions. The bar staff were very friendly, service was quick and the craic was brilliant! And as for 'low grade booze being put in top shelf bottles' I personally withnesa the girls cracking opened sealed bottles therefore you are just blatantly lying! The food in O'Dowds is wonderful and I would highly recommend it to locals and travellors passing through! It's a wonderful experience..

Sorry but this pub is disgusting...the accommodation level is filthy, the rooms overpriced...carpets haven't been cleaned since Noah was a Boy, the food is disgusting, long term residents of the place eat elsewhere. There are hidden tariffs on everything and are employed at the whim of the owner, when she feels the money pinch. Low grade booze is being put into top shelf bottles and sold at top shelf prices.
You have to pay for extras on food when it should included into the price of the meal; such as vegetables an extra $3.50. A remote control for your television will cost you $30 for a deposit, a digital set top box will cost you $30, key deposit is $70, bond on the room; if you are extending your stay will cost $200, advertised at $180 a week. The staff are treated like dogs and the patrons are treated with contempt.
The only thing Irish about this place is it's name...there is no fun here, no mateship...Beef week will cost you around $500 a week for the same

This is incorrect. Long term residents do eat at the restaurant and so do non residents who travel from afar. The food is amaizing they have the best food & best Chef in Rockhampton and are also the cheapest in the town.
Where else can you get a Succulent Chicken Schnitty(breast) for under $12 for dinner A Pie n Pint of guiness for $14.90 on Wednesday nights is normally $26.90 the rest of the week we have eaten at every restaurant in Rocky and there is no better.
The comment on the booze is totally incorrect. All of the alcohol is visual for all customers to see what brands they are buying ther is nothing illegal happening with the booze in this place. Vegetables are $3 extra not $3.50 and they are only extra if you order extra veg all meals come with chips &salad or mash n veg. The prices are so cheap for these extras at other restaurants we have paid $5 for extra veg. Key deposit is $20 not $70. Bond for weekly or permenant stays was $50 is now $100 due to customers ill treating the rooms. $180 is for a non airconditioned single hotel room. $200 for a air conditioned single room. These rooms have been reduced from $220 single so are very cheap compared with other pub hotels within walking distance which do not do weekly deals they charge daily rates of $56- $75 per day not weekly deals this equals $392 - $525 per week this is a rip off.
I know where i would like to stay for value for my dollar.
This is a lovely pub with great atmosphere and the best meal deals in Rocky.
