About Victoria Hotel:
The Victoria Hotel was built as a hotel, but initially the CBC Bank opened it as a bank. On 18th April 1894, the bank was held up and the Manager, Mr McKay was shot dead. The bushrangers were subsequently caught, Alex Lee and John Cummins were hung after being convicted of the crime. These two bushrangers were the first to be hung in Tamworth.
