Disappointing Experience with Parking Policy Changes

3
9 months 3 days ago

This morning, I visited Cabramatta to run some errands at the post office. I usually park at the lot behind Stardust Hotel because it’s convenient. However, today I encountered an unexpected issue: the driveway was blocked by two beer kegs, and a man loudly demanded payment to use the parking lot. His tone was quite rude and impolite, almost like a self-proclaimed “ranger.”

When I asked why the parking, which used to be free, now required payment, he explained that it’s private property and that if I shop elsewhere, I must pay. Left with no choice, I had to park at the free council car park instead.

It’s worth noting that many of Stardust Hotel’s patrons come from the Vietnamese community, who have supported the business by dining and using their services. Previously, the hotel offered free parking, which fostered a good relationship with the community. Before making such changes, they could have supported the community by offering a limited number of free parking spots or imposing time restrictions, rather than employing someone to push community members away from the hotel. If they no longer support the community, it raises the question of whether the community should continue supporting them?
