Built in 1920, the Giru International Hotel was originally one of three hotels in
the small township that is home to workers at the Giru Mill. A large two-storey
timber pub, these days it is a favourite stopover point for fi shermen heading for
the Haughton River or out into Cleveland Bay to chase barramundi, mud crabs
and some of the best fi shing in North Queensland. The pub has a strong fi shing
theme, and there are always a few locals around to tell stories about how big the
barramundi really get!
The Giru International Hotel offers meals in the bistro and budget accommodation upstairs.

Giru International Hotel
Gday Phil, I stayed up at the Giru International Hotel a few year's back and it was a great place to stay. They had just renovated the rooms, placing high quality air conditioning, which was very welcome.
Went out fishing and it was the perfect place to come back to, as the meals are great and the bar is full of interesting characters. Over the course of a few days you get to meet many of the locals, who all seem pretty laid back.
Can't recall the rates but remember it being reasonable and the place was definitely worth it.
