Mt Coolon Hotel
Great food, super friendly service and awesome chicken burgers!!
Mount Coolon Pub
Went for a quiet drive to see Mount Coolon. Arrived after 41 klms of dirt road, which I didn't know before I left Collinsville. Great character, great hosts Billy and Gail. Nice people and very accepting of a city bloke.
Decided to stay the night, glad I did, great accommodation and wonderful managers, never bored.
Next time I won't drive there in a MX5, too low to the ground for some of the dirt.
Sleepy far awayTown with History
I done the trip from Nebo past lake elphinstone to Mount Coolon and on to Burdekin Falls and gost town Ravenswood, twice. Once with a Russian Motorbike and Sidecar. Mt Coolon Hotel and the people residing there are just super friendly and helpfull. Only no petrol there any more. But they help you out if in trouble. A very wilde history is worth studying. Wild Mr Coolon, the left overs of the Gold Rush and the shame of the Australian Workers Union. And on and on. Love the place. Will go there soon again. And Hey!!! The loos are better than in modern France.
Road conditions
On our trip north in Sept. 2012, we are planning from Nebo, Lake Elphinstone, Mt.Coolon thenonto Burdekin Falls Dam, Ravenswood & Mingela.
Would you advise the condition of this route or who can assist?
We will stop over at your pub for those hamburgers & a drink or 2 or 3 or 4
dissapoint
After phoning ahead and confirming accommidation availibility we arrived to a nice country pub. Upon checking in we were not informed of the whereabouts of the correct ammenities as the ones that were available to us were of third world standards.

Amenities
Thank you for your feed back. I was actually at the pub at the time and I do remember your visit. I am assuming it was the caravan site amenities as we had planned to check prior to your arrival but as you can appreciate they are rarely used but we do clean when there is a booking. But due to the time of year (being New Year) we were all feeling a tad buggered from the celebrations it may have been missed? I do apologize for our shabbiness all the same....:)

Went to Mt. Coolon hotel to
Went to Mt. Coolon hotel to do a gig (I'm singer/musician).... after traveling more than an hour on heavy going dirt road (coming from Mackay/Nebo) I thought I'd reached the pub at the end of the universe. But then the Nannies and Governessess turned up... and the ringers... and the station owners..... 8:30 next morning they were all still there. Amazingly great time... but what a surprise! lol
We have been out to Mount
We have been out to Mount Coolon pub twice now, and had a ball both times. We are what you would probably call "townies", and were welcomed by the locals none the less. What a great place to chill out when its quiet, but when it starts rocking it rocks! Love the fact that a party can appear from nowhere when a group turns up! Will definitly be back again...and again...and again!
re: we'll visit again for sure
We ended up here in error...got stuck with car trouble and had to get our ute towed to Charters. Went to the pub (which didn't look that exciting to start with) and had a great time. The lady (Tania I think???) keep the drinks coming and then some. A few locals turned up and wooohooo...what a night! Not only did they let us sleep in 'drunks beds' but they fed us as well (ok only toast and coffee but who's complaining). I would DEFINEATELY go back there. WHat a night!!! And the boys are so cute..:0)
Luv ya
