A cultural icon of Adelaide, the Union Hotel has been in constant service since the middle of the 19th Century. The latest guise is a fashionable and timely refit. The renovations have added some '70s flair .
Bar Cuba upstaires @ The Union oozes opulence from its white marble bar to its custom chandeliers and luxe fabrics. In a flashback to the Playboy clubs of the ’70s, a bronze crushed velvet banquette scattered with gold cushions lines the wall of one of the rooms. . Adding to the upmarket vibe, there’ll be drinks service to the tables, so if you have positioned yourself on one of the many lounges and don’t want to move, you won’t go thirsty. It’s also ahead of its time, with a complete ban on smoking.
The crowd More lounge bar than nightclub, this is the place to come before or after dinner to chill and have a chat. It’s attracting a young corporate crowd, due to its location in a growing business district, but also a more mature crowd who don’t need to be dancing on the bar to be having a good time.
On the menu Rum, it seems, is the new vodka and here you’ll find the biggest selection of rum in the world, with about 100 to choose from.l. No food here but there’s a great restaurant downstairs.
