Derwent Bridge is situated at the southern end of the Cradle Mountain/Lake St Clair National Park, the town is named for the bridge that spans the Derwent closest to its source.
Derwent Bridge Wilderness Hotel is a lodge style hotel featuring Tasmanian timbers and enormous brick fireplaces. It’s a popular stopping place for those travelling to Tasmania’s west coast.
The hotel offers a choice of hotel or backpacker accommodation. It has seven standard rooms and 39 dormitory style rooms. All have shared bathroom facilities.
Visit the Wall in the Wilderness; carved Huon pine panels depicting the history of Tasmania’s central highlands – still a work in progress. Go bushwalking in Cradle Mountain/Lake St Clair National Park.
Fish the nearby highland lakes, then come home for a hearty feast and a bottle of fine Tasmanian wine or beer, or have the chef cook your catch. Tell tall tales around the blazing log fires, enjoy the conviviality of the cosy bar. This relaxing resting place half way between Hobart and Strahan is almost next to Lake St Clair and Lake William.
