History of the Hotel
I lived next door to the Lord Newry, when it used to close at 6 pm, when it was own by Mr & Mrs Campbell, and their daughters Pat and Margaret. I used to play ball against the wall in Newry Street. I used to love watching the draft horses bringing the big beer barrels and how the men would lower them into the cellar. My Dad also wrote on our wall in the lane , so the men would not pea on it. We owned 54 Newry St until 1953. I see you now have meals, I would love to visit one day and have a meal. I have always thought the Lord Newry looks a Classy Pub, I love the green tiles. The " 6 o'clock swill", sure was an occassion each evening.
