About Goomalling Tavern:

The Goomalling Hotel, as it was known then, opened on the 1st October 1904 and only had 12 rooms. Since then there have been a few alterations and the hotel now has 23 rooms where guests are welcome. There are counter meals and bar snacks daily, as well as weekly specials by the talented chef.

Goomalling Tavern Now Under New Owner/Management

I am writing this review as I believe in people not having to live in the shadow of others but being given a fair go. Some of the reviews are fairly scathing but Barry Gooch, the long time owner of the Tavern, has been leasing the Tavern for the last seven years which unfortunately has been allowed to run down. Barry has been back in control since September and in that time has cleaned the hotel up to a very suitable standard and will continue to do so. Satellite TV will be installed within weeks in both Saloon & Front Bars along with Pool Table, Arcade Games and Video Jukebox that are now in the front bar for everyone's enjoyment. Although the Tavern is not serving meals the kitchen has had a complete overhaul and has been passed by the Health Authorities and will resume serving quality meals, in a very relaxed style dining room, at affordable prices in the very near future. There is a full range of stock and the Goomalling Tavern has re-associated with Bottlemart and the main breweries so that a wide choice of products are available both on tap and shelves. The Tavern is open from 12.00 noon daily so come in and say gidday....you may be pleasantly surprised.

Yes the place is a bit run down but that's what bush pubs are all about. It's a bit hard to say they need to do it up (read spend 100s of 1000s $) when the turnover simply doesn't justify the expense. Sad commercial reality I'm afraid.
