About Whim Creek Hotel:

Painted bright pink in Whim Creek, this national treasure is a favourite outback watering hole for dusty travellers. It's survived cyclones, white ants, threat of closure and boasts a wildlife sanctuary, once home to a legendary camel that loved drinking beer.

G'day Ruby May, tell me there has been a change of plan and the historic, famous, iconic national treasure that is my local during the winter months, is now NOT going to close on the 2nd of november.
It would be an absolute tragedy and should not be allowed to happen.

Just a few months ago there was a Australian Millitary service honouring the Lockyer Brothersn which i attended. There was a bit of coverage for it and it was also in the news paper so i recon you would find that interesting if you could find it.
Disregard what Ruby May had said, she is just a newbie, ahah

Greetings, I have been researching Australian aviation memorials for the past 16 years and have over 1800 recorded. I recently heard of a memorial in Whim Creek, to the Lockyer Brothers, one of whom was killed in WW2 while serving with the RAAF, hence my interest. I am hoping that you may be able to confirn if such a memorial exists and suppply a few details, or suggest a contact that may be able to.
Regards, Neil Follett.

Hi Neil, I recently completed a round Australia trip by motorcycle. I had a brief stop at Whim Creek where i took a photo of the pub. I did see a memorial there and from memory it recorded the deaths of about 6/7 people and i seem to recall that they were all from the Lockyer family. Unfortunately i did not get a photo because of inclement weather. If i had only seen your query a week ago i could have arranged for a mate to take a pic on his way back up to Darwin. Best of luck with your research. regards . Gary
