I went to school with a Jodie Maguire,

She had the tenacity of a losing rugby team that wouldnt yield the field.
I hope that the Gods of Happiness visit her often, for she paid her dues, and went her way , as is the games of a lass of her day.

What band(s) are you having this year? Have you got a program yet? Had a ball a couple of years ago, spent quite a lot of time in the lovely breezy back bar.

Have been to Tamworth Festival 4 years in a row with 4 other friends and found it our favourite venue. This year we are bringing wives and I cannot find out who your Festival guest artists are this year 2013.

Was this pub founded by someone called Joe McGuire?
Was he from Fermanagh,Ireland? Fermanagh is the ancestral homeland of Maguires/McGuires.

Hello - My name is Jodie Maguire and I am Joe Maguire's daughter. The Hotel was founded by my grandparents - Joseph and Susan Maguire. The original hotel was across the road in a little tarven-esq structure.
In 1914 My Grandparents built the pub as it stands today. My grandfarther died relatively young and my grandmother Susan Maguire ran the pub umtil she died.

That was when my father Joe Maguire took over - After his death in 1989 - the pub was it sold, and because dad was a rare and generous man the likes you never see these days, a real character the name remained Joe Maguires . Joe Maguire was a really genuine man that helped a lot of people - without having to broadcast it to everyone - he was well respected and people thought of him as 'the battlers mate' because he'd give anyone a chance, a loan or a hand with anything he could - He was the quinicentual Publican and these days you would be hard pressed to find a proper Publican of his calibra...

Hi Jodie, you may not remember me, but my sister worked for your grandmother and than your Dad, she was patrick & the other ones Nanny for many years. She worked for old mrs maquarie up untill she died. You use to play with my daughter Naomi Mehrton, when we would come up for country music, and stay next door at the Mehrtons place.
Great to hear your message about your Dad.
