After camping and 4WD for a few days seeing the Dargo Hotel was a gift. We went straight in and had a few cold ones, checked in without a reservation and had some nice hot showers. The log cabins are amazing. Back into the Hotel for the afternoon, what a great day. The staff were lovely, the locals happy to chat and the food in the Bistro awesome. I could recommend the Dargo Hotel to everyone in fact we are already organizing another trip for next year and we only got home today. Great job, keep up the good work Dargo Hotel.

Fantastic hospitality

A welcome site after being stuck in the bush, Teen and the bar staff were very welcoming on the arrival of our group of 7 younger blokes. Hot showers, huge meals, plenty of beer and let us camp on site, can't complain with that. A great bush pub that should be visited. 5 stars

2 days and nights in Dargo

Stayed in the cabins for two nights. We found them very comfortable including the bunks. Very hot, high pressured showers. The hosts Teen and Tom were the perfect hosts and met our every needs. Beer cold, excellent pub food. The perfect country Pub.

We would highly recommend a stay here

A beer with the publicans in the paddock

We are travelling around Australia from Queensland and visiting the famous Dargo pub certainly hasn't let us down. So much so, that we had to pull in a second time as we drove through Dargo. The new publicans Tom and Teen were extremely helpful. From helping us to plot tracks and suggesting locations to visit while in this area of the high country, to accommodating us by allowing us to camp up in their back paddock for the night after we enjoyed a few too many beers to hit the road again.

They even joined us for a few at the end of the night! Be sure to pop in and say hi to this couple as they will go out of their way to accommodate your needs and ensure your experience at the pub is one to remember.

A great stay

I don't know about the previous two reviews from a year ago (early 2013), but we (7 motorcyclists) had a great Saturday night there on 15 Feb 2014. The old reviews aren't worth anything because the authors didn't put their names to them, and the hotel has been under new management for the last 6 months. Although there were only 7 of us and we could have crammed into one cabin (master bedroom with double bed, 2nd room with 3 double bunks, shared bathroom), and we were paying per person, they were happy to let us use 2 cabins. It was a good deal, $100 per person, 2 course dinner, bed, 2 course breakfast. The meals were really good, generously sized, and the hot breakfast was more than most of us could eat. The atmosphere was good, with quite a few families in the dining room. I'd gladly stay there again. Just one thing: I like to drink schooners, but they only have pots in the bar.

The publican at Dargo is the most unfriendly person I have ever come across. All he seems to be interseted in is making a profit and being the nastiest person possible.
He put the prices up in the pub (drinks and food) when the emergency crews went to Dargo.' THEY 'were there to save the town and the locals. He is morally corrupt. and has no ethics
The rest of the locals were helpful and would do anything to help out.

Disgruntled

Would like to say that the dargo pub is a discrace the owner had to cancel a booking to stay 3 nights lost the $100 deposit even though another friend took the original booking ! The owner was rude ! Would never book to stay at dargo again! For someone who has lived and was raised in the country this was not a show of country spirit! Sometimes we have deaths in our family regardless that we have booked months in advance ! Obviously the owner has no heart! Hope you choke on your deposit !

This was once a great pub with an awesome country atmosphere however that was a long time ago now. Unfortunately the current publican or owner according to him has lost touch in regards to what makes a great country pub and would rather line his pockets than take care of his visitors/ return customers. Last time I was in there (April 2011) it was happy hour and the eight of us ordered two jugs with eight empty glasses. We were charged full price and it wasn't until the third shout somebody questioned it only to be told happy hour prices only apply to individual pots. This isn't how it's meant to work in the country and when I questioned the publican about it was told to read the sign that was behind the bar, this sign is so small and amongst all the other decorations is almost impossible to see. All the boys were turned right off by these actions and were intending on spending two nights there and meals. Needless to say the next night we walked down to the only other pub in town and were treated to one of the funniest friendless nights of our lives.
