Built in 1853, the Goolwa Hotel is an excellent example of early colonial architecture, and still provides comfortable facilities for patrons without losing the mid-1800's atmosphere and ambience. During recent renovations, proprietors Ian & Terry Cross were careful to maintain the delicate balance between the old and the new.
A wonderful dining experience awaits guests in the Mozambique Restaurant.
Friendly staff and magnificant meals make this a certain stop when visiting Goolwa.

Goolwa hotel
12 dollars for seafood sauce is not a good deal when its garlic sauce with three small prawns. Then when you complain the staff are rude.

Good honest pub food
Called in the other night looking for a refuel. $10 special was lamb roast. It was ok. Salad and veg bar was the highlight. All in all it hit the spot and recommend it worth a try - specials menu Mon - Thurs ensure you won't break the bank.
Lunch today, Sunday 31/7/2011.
Hubby & I eat out on a fairly regular basis. The other night we went out in Adelaide & had 2 steaks (burnt), 2 wines, 2 hot chocolates & a shared dessert, walked out of there $80 worse off. The service was atrocious & we will never be going back.
A few nights prior to this we went to another place, service was absolutely disgusting, food was average. Same deal - never again!
Was walking past the Goolwa Hotel today & decided to stop to have a meal. We then saw the sign for 2 courses for $12.00, which made it even more appealling. Can't beat that!
The girls (staff) were lovely.
Meal was just awesome. Entree & main, or main & dessert - which is what we opted for. Great home cooked roast with plentiful vegies & a generous serving at that.
Hubby got the last serve of pudding with icecream & cream & I had the lovely lemon meringue with icecream & cream. Hubby admitted he could have gone another round of that! Thank goodness it was the last one, lol.
2 large glasses of squash & $30 later we were so full & could hardly contemplate the walk back to the vehicle.
Would highly recommend making a stop here. I must say we've overlooked it in the past but with meals & service like we got today, I'd certainly make a trip to go back. Even if the meal wasn't as cheap in price as it was, we'd still have enjoyed it immensely.
Thanks guys, you did a great job! 10/10.
Cheers!
