James Squire Hop Thief 6 American-style Pale Ale

THE Malt Shovel Brewery has unveiled the next edition in the James Squire Hop Thief varietal series, with the launch of Hop Thief 6 American-style Pale Ale.

The Hop Thief series showcases new or fresh seasonal aromatic hops available at the time of each numbered release to brew an American-style pale ale.

Hop Thief 6 American-style Pale Ale has a copper colour with a clean, clear appearance and a good white head. It has a distinctive floral nose with fruity notes - something to savour.

There’s an abundance of flavour from the first mouthful and you might pick up a passionfruit-type flavour, balanced with subtle malt sweetness. This all gives way to a cleansing bitterness that draws you back.

It is a full-strength beer at 5 per cent but with great sessionability thanks to the fact it doesn't sit heavily in the gut, this Hop Thief is a tricky little bugger that can sneak up on you.

This might go well with a white meat dish – fish or chicken, grilled with a tangy sauce. If you enjoy your American pale ales, the latest Hop Thief is definitely not to be missed.

MY TIP:

Good pale ales are for the senses so serve this up in a glass that can appreciate the aroma and appearance – no jar glass please!

At about $18 per 330ml six pack, you are paying for a high standard that James Squire continues to deliver.
