Eromanga is famous for being the furthest town from the ocean in Australia. The Eromanga oil and gas basin produces around one and a half million barrels of oil per year.
The Old Royal Hotel, built in 1885, is one of the original buildings and was once a Cobb and Co. Staging Post. The rustic outdoor machinery museum will soon be complemented by an indoor Living History Centre incorporating an Object Theatre. The new museum is next to a covered playground and park with a stunning mining memorial, inlaid with opal.
You are welcome to the community barbecue held every Saturday night. Annual events include the Easter Eromanga Rodeo, Campdraft and Gymkhana.
