Gundiah is one of those quaint Queensland country towns that has one main building - the pub! Located 11 kilometres south of Tiaro and 7 kilometres west of the Bruce Highway, the pleasant drive to Gundiah will take you to the warm hospitality of the Prince Alfred Hotel.
The region around Gundiah was once known as Gootchie, and the original Prince Alfred Hotel was built in 1868, a reflection of the thirsty needs of the local community. The first publican was a gentleman by the name of Charles Scarott. Fire destroyed much of the hotel in the mid-1940s, and it was rebuilt in 1947; however, the license has continued for almost 140 years!
