I find 'don't book at this hotel' hard to believe

I have attended numerous functions at the Oxford over the years and often just drop in for a meal. I have always had excellent service, the staff are pleasant and attentive and go out of their way to ensure a good time is had by all.

I am not sure what the author of the 'don't book this hotel' was expecting but I doubt they would be happy regardless. I find their description of events very difficult to believe and wonder what their real motive is.

Best Pub in town, great venue for functions or just for a quick meal and a cool drink

Don't book functions at this hotel

11 years 1 month ago

I attended a recent family function which was booked by a family member. Unbeknown to us, this hotel booked a school reunion party in the same area, and divided the two groups with a few plants. Distance between the two function tables would have been less than five metres.
Everyone had to yell to be heard. Speeches on both sides were drowned out by chatter.
As someone who has been associated with the events industry for over 30 years, I would have to say this side by side arrangement put in place by this hotel was by far, the worst arrangement I have ever seen.
Whether one of the two groups could have been hosted upstairs, I'm not sure.
The hastily handwritten sign "Private Function" sticky taped on the door, says it all as far as professionalism goes.
So, thanks Oxford Hotel - You ruined what could have been two enjoyable functions and in doing so, created a lot of unhappy patrons, most of whom reside in Casino and surrounds. My family will certainly never be using your hotel again for any reason.
