Originally a resting place for bullock teams, the town was first known as Burenda before being renamed Ellangowan. It was officially named Augathella in 1883. Off the Matlida Highway in outback Queensland, Augathella is a great place to stop and enjoy the town's colourful history.
The Ellangowan Hotel offers locals and visitors to the area a friendly and relaxed atmosphere - perfect for enjoying a cold drink and good food. Enjoy either of the Hotel's two bars, or the Beer Garden. The Hotel also offers comfortable accommodation at excellent rates

Great service
Stopped here for lunch with friends on our way home to Townsville after holidays.
Publican very friendly and good for a yarn, lunch was enjoyable and well priced, beer was cold and under our supervision kids were allowed a few games of pool.
Would definitely recommend a stop here, great old pub to pull up to break the long drive.
