The main Norman Hotel building dates back to 1889 and is heritage listed. The venue has had many incarnations during the years being a working class pub for many years, a biker pub in the early 80’s and most recently as “Brisbane’s worst vegetarian restaurant!”
The most significant innovation in the hotel’s history has been the addition of a 600 seat steakhouse in September 1988. The hotel set out to develop a reputation for providing the best meat sourced from all over Australia and provide quality meals at an affordable price in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Their vision has borne fruit with the hotel gaining an enviable reputation as being the best purveyor of steaks in Brisbane, a reputation which goes beyond the city boundaries with intrastate, interstate and even overseas visitors looking forward to a Norman steak. Since the launch of the Steakhouse in 1988 the Hotel has served well over an estimated one million meals, with that number growing daily!
The Hotel also offers a number of other facilities including the recently renovated sports bar, Gaming Room and a drive-through bottle department.
