Located 52 km south of Bundaberg at the juncture of the Bruce and Isis Highways, Childers is the southern-most township of central Queensland. Childers is approximately 320km north-west of Brisbane. In 1902 a disastrous fire destroyed most of the southern side of the main street but the subsequent rebuilding has resulted in the amazing variety of architectural styles still largely intact today. The area’s primary industries include sugar cane and tomatoes.
The Federal Hotel was built in 1907 and still retains its old world charm.
It is once again a family owned business, and prides itself on friendly service, cold beer, excellent meals and basic hotel style accommodation.
