The small township of Yaraka is situated 100 kilometres away from Isisford, the backdrop of the Grey Range to the open Mitchell grass plains which have long been regarded as some of the best grazing country in Australia.
Yaraka is a small but attractive town with most services available for travellers. Friendly locals at the pub will love to have a chat over a beer, about the historical attributes of Yaraka.

What a pleasant surprise
We live in Longreach, and over Easter took the swags and the dogs on a round trip adventure passing through Winton, Boulia, Bedourie, Birdsville, Windorah, Isisford and back to Longreach. Between Windorah and Isisford there is a lovely hamlet of about 12 people and we stopped to have a rest and a light meal at the pub. Chris and Gerry Gimblett are the mine hosts and they are a very friendly couple. We were allowed to put our dogs into an enclosed yard beside the pub where they enjoyed a stretch after 2-1/2 hours in the cruiser. Our lunch was light which is what we wanted, but we were both impressed by the friendliness of the hosts and a few of the regulars. Yaraka has a free caravan park with powered sites for 3 vans and unpowered sites for campers, and a free pool. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
A warm friendly environment
The publican and locals are great ; always up for a chat and plenty of ale to go around! Wide open travelling spaces and enjoy the lack of traffic lights and roundabouts ! Take time out to smell the roses take a drive soon
