The Cradock Hotel was built in the early 1880's when farmers first opened up this country for cropping. Out here they hoped the rain would follow the plough but they were wrong. Within a few dry years many cockies had gone to the wall but not before they'd be left a lasting legacy. A number of bedrooms fan off from the central courtyard which gives this out back pub a distinctly Mediterranean feel. But in the front bar the look is classically Australian.

Great Help from publican when needed
Travelling between Carrieton and Hawker in 42 deg heat en route to Wilpena. Ran out of fuel due to killer headwind 2.5 km south of Cradock.( car using 50% more than normal) Walked back to pub, the publican was remarkably helpful, drove me back to my car and sold me Jerry can of fuel at normal pump price. Fantastic help, and a nice place for a beer.
