About Junction Hotel Toolamba:

The Junction Hotel is located only 6km from the Goulburn Valley Highway and 3km from Mooroopna-Murchison Road in the heart of the beautiful town of Toolamba, Victoria.

The Junction is drenched in history and is currently the oldest standing building in Toolamba being established on its existing site in 1881 prior to the area being surveyed. The original Hotel and Store was burnt down in March 1912 and was then rebuilt in the same year.

From the classic wooden bar, to the historic dining room, to the traditional pioneering atmosphere, the Junction offers an outstanding rural hotel experience.

Complimented with a leafy sunbathed beer garden, the Junction is perfect for any occasion. We even have room for your horse.

The Junction Hotel prides itself on quality service, locally sourced food, an extensive wine list, premium spirits and of course fresh, cold beer.

Our restaurant provides a mix of classic and contemporary food. All ingredients are locally sourced, with blackboard and daily specials also on offer.

Weekly highlights include happy hour drink specials, Wednesday Pot and Parmi, Thursday Local Lamb Night and Junction Jackpot Joker Poker Friday Night.

We come from a long line of family farmers (6th Generation to be precise) who have life long experience in producing prime lamb for hungry Australians. Now we have decided to bring it directly to your plate at The Junction.

From the sheltered river flats to the rising higher banks, the beautiful and picturesque river lands of the Goulburn Valley region are perfect for faming livestock all year round due to an abundance of quality soils, sunshine and water. All this makes the Victorian Goulburn Valley arguably the best lamb growing region in Australia.

Our Seasons are usually dry Summers and Autumns with rains predominately in Winter and Spring with the occasional Flood and Drought in between. The good Springs produce fantastic conditions for growing all that is grown in the Goulburn Valley, especially Lambs. When the Seasons are less favourable we have Irrigation to supplement the dry conditions providing us with the ability to finish our Lambs on green grass.

We source our Rams from one of the best Seedstock producers in Australia, the Lambpro Partnership at Holbrook in NSW. The Rams we purchase annually are always amongst the top Rams on offer and rank highly in the traits we place particular emphasis on early; early growth rate, eye muscle depth, maternal fat, number of lambs weaned and fertility.

We are excited about introducing a new Sire type to some of our young ewes this year, also from Lambpro, called the LAMBPRO TRADIE. The TRADIE is a Southdown/Poll Dorset sire which combines the eye muscle of the Dorset’s with the marbling and tenderness of the Southdown.

We’re looking forward to seeing the results of this trial as other trials have shown the Southdown’s superiority over conventional terminal sire breeds for marbling and tenderness. It’s the closest thing the lamb industry has to the Wagyu beef breed. Can’t wait to see these lambs in the Spring and bring them to the table for your enjoyment.
