Relax in Ashbourne

It is a great place to ride to and such pleasant surrounds ensure you will find it a refreshing experience. I have probably called in here for a cool ale and a bite to eat on 5 or 6 occasions over the years and have never been disappointed. If you haven't been there before, mark it on your bucket list. It is worth the travel.

Relaxing and casual atmosphere, friendly staff, fresh, well cooked, enormous and well priced meals. Fantastic kids menu. No doubt to recommend it and I'm a fussy bugger!

A true country experience. Warm and friendly staff. The service may be a little skittish but hey, it's country and the waiters are local kids who are doing their best. The chef is world class and can cook a steak (and seafood) to perfection. Good prices, fresh food and gigantic servings. This is not silver service. This is good old fashioned service with fabulous food and a relaxed and happy atmosphere. Loved it.

A rustic and cosy yet clean environment. Fresh food. Meals are of an enormous proportion! Fantastic chef who knows how to cook! Warm and inviting. Well priced. We'll be back for sure.

Had a fantastic dinner tonight, loved the country atmosphere and had to comment on the amount of laughter coming from the staff and patrons. Very nice change.. Also it seemed to me that the vegies were perfect. Will go back for sure!!!!!

my hubby & I had dinner @ the greenman inn last night and it was not bad, the service was good & the staff were friendly, the plates could have been warmer and a spoon & fork with the poached pear would have been nice. Over all the flavours were there all there they just need some refining we will def go back. On our vist there was a very young crew working in the kitchen and they did a great job !!! I am not a 'foodie' I am a "chef" ,keep up the good work guys an girls, PS lose the froozen veg xxx

All vegetables are supplied by Ashbourne locals "Pethick Orchards" and cut up/prepared fresh daily by the "young kitchen crew" mentioned. The Greenman is one of very few places that still makes everything fresh( this does add a little extra waiting time on serving meals) and doesnt order pre made/packaged stuff. Take a look through the kitchen window on a Wed arvo to see them making FRESH chicken and beef schnitzels in preperation for "Schnitty nite" that night...how much fresher can you want? Chef can tell you exactly what is in every bit of food, this is especially great for those that are gluten intolerant etc..and will make up something suitable & FRESH to accomodate!

I have never been to the Greenman Inn before tonight, we stopped in on passing by, but found the vegies fantastic. Actually we three commented on how nice and fresh they were.

The Greenman Inn was recommended to me as a must go to establishment for a meal. Two of us dined there last weekend and we will not return. The meal was very ordinary indeed with the steak overcooked and dry. Upon providing this feedback to a member of staff (who I must say was friendly) I was duly thanked without further comment!

Hi, apparently the phone number on this page is incorrect. The poor lady who answered has had several other calls - it would be good for it to be corrected.

Sorry, but you actually need to dial the 08 prefix to get the Green Man - I didn't think that it was necessary but it is.

We recently passed through Ashbourne and stopped at the pub for a drink and a snack. We ordered some hot chips and damper. We sat under the verandah and just admired the lovely hills. So peaceful and relaxing. Great atmosphere. Yes the service was a little slow but so what. We will definitely be going back to enjoy this little hidden treasure, unspoilt by pokies and modern decor.

I have been to the Greenman, portions are huge, price is small, drinks are cheap and most of all the service and the people there seem to be really friendly. Going there tonight!

Nice thing about this pub is it is just a pub, no pokies in the background. It is refreshing!

LOVE THE CHICKEN SCHNITZEL! Absolutely amazing!
Need to get better service though...
Way too long.

Positives: Great food, lovely drinks, etc.

What I didn't like: The service was very long, I waited for over and hour-and-a-half for a chicken schnitzel. I was extremely hungry. Salad needs flavour, some sort of dressing should be offered.
Another was when I was walking past the kitchen. Pans, cutlery, etc, were flying everywhere, falling on the ground. I am not proud that I just ate food that has had something from the ground.

I can't believe the last couple of comments. I have been the the Greenman Inn many times and have found the food is alway's very good and a generous size.
Louchy and the Staff are always pleasant and helpfully. Not sure what Roxanne is on about maybe jealousy.

I rang your pub this morning to try and make some enquiries about your lunchtime menu . The girl who answered the call was completely disinterested I had to ask her 3 times if I had the Greenman inn when I asked about your menu I was told it was pub lunch stuff " you know hamburghers and stuff" and after asking about price was told " about 10 bucks or so "

There are 4 of us going out for lunch today and thought we would try your place but after my phone call I don`t think we will bother , if your staff are not interested we will go somewhere where we will be treated as customers . Strath or Goolwa .

My first contact with you will be my last .. D Sorell .
