Exceptional Management & Service
I am a semi- regular visitor to the Cape tavern and would like comment on the delicious food and welcoming atmosphere of this friendly tavern. l thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food and wine tasting lunch held their on the 15 th of July. l spent a wonderful Winters afternoon socialising and enjoying some excellent wine and superb food.
I have never been disappointed with a meal and the servings are very generous and well priced. The service is prompt and the staff go out of their way to be helpful and courteous.
l would also like to commend the Licensee on his exceptional people skills.Nothing is to much trouble for him.If our group requires a larger table, people are offered a round of free drinks to shift tables.!! A hot drink right on closing, when everything is turned of is happily catered for.!
If the local Surf Lifesaving Club is in need of a raffle prize, a free dinner for 2 is quickly and quietly offered, on top of the regular prize donation-a big plus for a small Lifesaving club trying to fund raise.
I highly recommend a visit soon.

Great Food, NEW Chef
After spending all of January here in Cape and eating at the Tavern numerous times with my family, I fully recommend the food at the Tavern, reasonably priced kids meals which include a dessert & drink. The Schezuan Squid with Asian salad was cooked to perfection, likewise was the Crispy skinned pork belly on mash with delicous crisp greens. Best pub to eat at in the area, prices very reasonable for the quality of the food, with friendly staff.

I took my children and my sisters children out for tea only to be harassed by a local at the bar who constantly kept commenting, making faced and sticking his fingers up at my two year old. On top of that my chargrilled vegetable stack looked and tasted like it had been regurgitated. Prices were over the top for the venue and the quality of food. Very disappointed
Food is terrible
Went for dinner here with three friends and it was rubbish food for the price.
Two of us had breaded flathead tails that had been murdered, dry, overcooked and tasteless.
One of us had a steak they sent back because it was overcooked, the second one wasn't much better and wasn't a well prepared piece of meat.
The last meal was calamari, it wasn't bad but far to oily and the oil it was cooked in was old.
The garlic bread we shared we actually left as it was like doe and tasted like it was pre cooked and reheated in the microwave.
If this was a $15-$20 counter meal, fair enough but these dishes were all over $25 dollars and the Garlic Bread was $8.
Far to expensive for very average food.
Dinner at the Cape Tavern
Have to disagree with the comment about the food. Hubby and I have been travelling around Australia for the past 3 months and have eaten at a variety of places. We were delighted with the meals that we had at the tavern. We thought it was value for money, especially the chicken mignon which was topped with grilled prawns which were moist and tasty. This was accompanied with a combination of greens which were crunchy and tasty-definitely not over cooked. The veggie stack was delicious, especially with the pesto. Yes it did cost between $20-$30 but try getting food of that quality and quantity at other pubs or restaurants.
