YOU reap what you sow and if you plant a good beer in the market, you can grow a loyal following.
OK, enough of the puns but I was struggling to come up with a clever way of introducing Hahn Harvest Premium Ale.
Its the latest in the Hahn range and is a beer which I think will find plenty of followers, particular in the younger beer market set and for those who arent big fans of bitter ales.
Like other harvest drops, this from Hahn is a limited release.
It has a rich copper appearance with a good tight white head but the aroma is really pronounced - rather more subtle malt with a hint of sweet almost toffee notes.
I was expecting a distinctive hop bouquet.
It is very smooth across the palate and again theres am element of malt but also a touch of sweetness but not so much to be sickly after a few.
Theres no pronounced bitterness in the aftertaste which some might find a bit lacking.
The folks at Hahn describe this as an introductory beer to the craft market but I tend to think its a social beer for those who arent hard core beer drinkers.
The smooth nature and very subtle hint of caramel of this ale will appeal to those who like the flavoured beers but at least this is true to being a beer without added lime, lemon or what ever else is being injected into beers these days.
Its a versatile drop, good with food such as roast, perhaps pork chops, even a meat stew or at a party and it doesnt sit heavily in the gut so it has decent sessionability.
Hahn Harvest is easy to drink and is full strength at 4.2 per cent though I would say its a big thirst quencher on a hot day though at this time of the year, its ideal.
Its an ale which might have few people sitting on the fence, undecided about whether they like it or not, but if you offered me one, I certainly would knock it back!
MY TIP
Serve this nice and cold but you may find it changes its character slightly as it warms a bit (not that youd drink it hot!). Being a limited release, it wont be around for a long time but at $17 per 330ml six pack, its definitely worth harvesting at your local bottlo.

Great beer defiantly a premium beer one of the nicest I've had but Im mainly a scotch drinker, normally on special at woolies/bws for $11 a 6 pack, $32 for a box at dan murphs. Try it
Fail
This was a massive flop... if you like get into store now because it is being cleared out. Another plain Hahn Beer, thanks Chuck.
Curious as to style
I almost always drink ale.
However, I prefer the softer approach to ale found in (say) Monteiths or James Squires brews.
I dislike intensely the very gassy brews typical of the American Ale style.
So, I am looking to read in this review whether the brew is of the 'softer' suppable style or the American 'throw it down' style.
Maybe the words " good tight white head" might mean its a gassy beer.
Still don't know.
May have to try when I've run out of stock of Chancer or Spades Porter or Winter Ales.
Cheers
Hahn Harvest is worth a try
I bought a carton of Hahn Harvest at the BWS at Peregian Beach.
I decided to give it a go, even though I normally don't drink Hahn products.
It's got a unique taste and the most noticeable thing about it is the colour.
A shade of bronze that appears much darker than most lagers and ales.
No bitterness. Slight sweetness. Easy to digest.
If it's still around when you read this, then try it out.
