The Western Line New Owner and Makeover

5
10 years 3 months ago

The Western Line Pub, Oakey in January 2014 has been purchased and taken over by Jeff a publican who has owned or been involved with more than a dozen pubs over the years. Jeff found the Pub in a disgusting terrible condition and had to close the doors until he could re-paint and replace all the equipment. He is now replacing everything fom the beer lines, Glass Fridges, Fire Warning Systems right down to the floor coverings and everything in between. Even the glass washer has been replaced. Upon his arrival the work has not stopped but you should see the progress.
If you are driving past pop in for a cold drink and judge for yourselves, meet Jeff.

The GRAND reopenning is sheduled for Jan 2014 if all goes well.

The ratings are what he is working towards in a very short time

I'm sorry to say but you run one of the filthiest pubs I have ever had the misfortune to enter. You need to lift your game.
: Mens urinal is still being used even though it's disconnected as is the hand basin & when was it last cleaned
: the Ladies, well your cleaner seems to have missed that one as well.
:The very inviting smell of filth greets you at you walk through the door.
: Didn't risk a drink or food just in case your food preperation area was the same & do you clean the pipes every day??.
: games room with broken game & wires hanging out!!! Throw it out if it's stuffed!

You guys have a Hotel that is historical & somewhere to visit. What are you doing? Old is no excuss for being filthly & dirty. Clean your cobwebs down & give the walls a wash, sugar soap & a bit of elbow grease cost stuff-all. Get the plumber in & if you can't do these because of trading figures then you should be trading.

You run a public place & it should be inviting for the public to come too. I bet you complain there's no money in it? If it were inviting enough you'd make the money instead of depending on the few old pisspots that sit at the bar & couldn't give a stuff. Shame on you guys for letting a great pub run into the ground.

When I worked there in 1974 it was a thriving and very busy place. Lots of activity and the accommodation was always packed. It was patronised by the Oakey Bears Basketball team.

Does anyone know where the 1974 accommodation records are kept. I am look for someone who staying at the hotel over the Oct-Nov period 1974?

GREAT PUB FRIENDLY SERVICE , CHEAP POOL, YOU CAN SIT IN THE BAR AND HAVE A YARN TO ONE OF THE MANY FRIENDLY LOCALS OR RELAX IN THE LOUNGE WHERE SOMEONE ALWAYS WANTS A CHALLENGE ON THE POOL TABLE OR JUST LISTEN TO YR FAV MUSIC. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
